Part two of TORNADO Tues

  • I thought that there had been an explosion.  After a little time passed, I realized a tornado had hit the middle bedroom.  Glass was in every corner. Blinding rains swept into the room as well.
  • My immediate concern was the safety of my Dad and my dogs.
  • Closed the door of the bedroom. The wind was still howling something awful.
  • Made a phone call to my sister, to let her know that Daddy is fine.
  • Just part of the house is in bad shape.
  • Poured myself a shot glass of scotch, just enough for me to focus.
  • I wouldn’t call myself a fan of Florida.
  • Now, I am hating it something fierce.
  • Today…………I’m having a meltdown.  I guess it took a few days to sink in.
  • The hurricanes of 2004 left our homes in shambles. It took more than two yrs. to rebuild.
  • This tornado hit, was in some ways worse for me, because I saw the whole thing happen.

I think I had an OUTER body experience!

  • Which would you rather have ………..a hurricane, or a tropical storm?
  • I can now  speak with AUTHORITY. The voice of reason and calm.  Collected ALL my marbles.  They both stink to high heaven!
  • The afternoon of Aug.19, 2008, I was standing in the kitchen, feeding my dogs, trying to keep  things under control.
  • Tropical Storm Fay was in our midst. Torrential rains and very strong winds.
  • Everybody ate. The local weather channel was our background music of sorts.
  • My 85 yr. old father was tucked in bed.
  • I thought for one split second, the sound of the wind, was really, really strong………………..with that the house shook and the windows exploded in one room. The dogs ran in all directions.
  • I ran to my father’s room…………..NOTHING, he was sleeping and his room was in order.
  • Now, get the dogs back into their carriers.  Couldn’t find the puppies for about 20 minutes.  Finally, I found them under my father’s bed.  It took a lot of talking to get them out from under the bed.
  • To be continued.
  • P.S. Think about the original question!

What does Kartoffel mean to you?

Kartoffel aka little Sumo

Kartoffel aka little Sumo

Hi there, I am that little delicate white and black one with the pink blanket’s big sister.

My name is Kartoffel.  Do you know what a Kartoffel is ?

It is German for potato

So in essence, when I was born six weeks ago……..I looked very similar to a potato.

Not just any potato……..a Kartoffel!

Ten things that make us Happy!

  • Sweetpea and little Sumo

    Sweetpea and little Sumo

Hi, remember me from a previous post down below.  I’m Sweetpea.

Just found a great spot to rest my head. Soft and fat……..my older sister Sumo.

While we were wrestling earlier, I was saying to Sumo, what makes us happy?

Sometimes we found ourselves talking at the same time.

Sumo says that number one should be eating dog food!

I say sleeping with you as my pillow.

Wrestling is definitely number three.

Playing is number four.

Running is number five.

Taking a short snooze to catch our breath is number six.

Number seven is being held and cuddled.

I’m happy when Birgit talks to me.  Guess that would be number eight.

A Hallmark moment is when our Mom Dumpling keeps us clean and safe.  That is number nine.

We accept kisses as number ten!

Just imagine the beautiful fragrance!

MY Rose
MY Rose

Good Morning,  Here is one of my roses.

Read a wonderful blog written by Suzie Cheel about happiness.  I should say “10 things that make you happy!”
One of the things that make me happy, is picking a rose from the garden.
Bring it lovingly into the house.  Let the fresh fragrance fill the air.
Enjoy the breath-taking beauty!

She’s my little Sweetpea!

"OK, I'm awake"

"OK, I'm awake"

Hi, My name is Sweetpea.  I was born almost a month ago.

All things considered………I’m real lucky to be alive.  My mom, Dumpling, was doing her best.  She needed some help.

That Birgit person was feeding me some awful formula.

Look at me, I’m doing so much better!

On the cute factor…………….not bad, huh?!

You should see my sumo sister!!!

Maybe tomorrow!:)

Fix your Swing!

"Broken Swing"
“Broken Swing”

I took an early morning walk.

Turned the corner and much to my surprise, there was this broken swing, just hanging sadly.

The tree was loosing its leaves.

There was something about this simple scene that made me stop and stare.

I wonder if somebody was watching me from the window?!

Took a deep breath and closed my eyes ( the people inside must have been spitting out their coffee, watching and wondering whether to call the police!)

Went home to draw this miniature ACEO.  The scene reminded me of our backyard on Long Island.  My father made a area, with a swing for my little sister, very similar.  My mother could see her from the kitchen window.

Those were nice times.  The swing wasn’t broken.

Look at Me!

\

\

Good Morning, Here is a second cartoonish attempt to make fun.

The drawing is an ACEO, measuring 2.5 inches x 3.5 inches.  Small enough to collect.

You could slip it into a protective plastic sleeve that has magnets on the back…………to put it on your refrigerator.

Remember when you came home from school with a drawing, and Mom would put it on the front of the refrigerator for all to see, next to the grocery list?!  Remember how you felt?  Would prouder than a peacock describe the feeling?

Is Peace far behind?

Hi, Here is another one of my drawings.

This one was inspired by an article I had read in the local newspaper.

In essence, the “PEACE SIGN” was celebrating 50 yrs.

This is an ACEO. The drawing measures 2.5 inches x 3.5 inches.

I used colored pen and ink.

My intention was to make a cartoon.

Enjoy.

Thanks for stopping by.
